Saturday, September 6th

What to do with your Herb Harvest 

with Barbara Torino 

9:30-10:30 am

  We are excited and honored to welcome Barbara Torino back to Natureworks to teach us all about harvesting from the herb garden. Barbara Torino is a longtime herb gardener, a former employee of Natureworks, and is presently the Chairperson of the CT Unit of the Herb Society of America. Barbara will teach drying and preserving herbs, as well as some great recipes. She will also describe tending the herb garden for overwintering.

Green Expo in New Haven 

11:00 am – 5:00 pm

  This is our fifth year presenting at the  CT Folk Festival and Green Expo in Edgerton Park in New Haven. This year’s theme is Nurturing Nature. Stop by our booth to say hi, we will have free kids activities.  This fun family event is also a great place to see many of the other green companies in the area.

Fall Wreath Making 

 9:30 – 10:30 am

 Join Nancy, as she shows you how to make bright and colorful fall wreaths using all natural dried and preserved flowers, herbs, mosses, pods, curly twigs, and autumn ribbons.

Saucy Saturday

12 – 1 pm

 What kind of tomato do you use for your sauce? Do you skin your tomatoes first, do you use dried or fresh herbs?  These and many other “saucy questions” will be answered and discussed with Nancy. Bring a sample of your sauce to share, or at least your recipe (we can duplicate them). We’ll share our tried and true methods.

Sunday, September 14th

Monarch Migration

11 am – 12 pm

Join Store Manager Diane St. John as she explains how to raise monarch butterflies and how to tag them before they migrate back to Mexico. Hopefully ours will hatch and we can release them at this workshop!

Saturday, September 20th

Flower Presses for Adults 

9:30 – 10:30 am

Take home your very own wooden flower press. Natureworker, Jillian Shea will do a hands-on demonstration on how to build a flower press.  Afterward, we’ll walk in the garden and pick flowers ideal for pressing. Head home with a brand new press stuffed with flowers.

Pre-registration is required, $10 fee.
