A Calamondin orange plant fills our greenhouse with sweet perfume in December.
During the holiday season in November and December, we fill our greenhouse and retail store with beautiful, hand selected, premium flowering and foliage plants. It is truly a warm, sunny oasis where you can escape from the world, sit for a while, listen to the soothing sound of a trickling fountain, and inhale sweet scents.
Naturally, poinsettias are part of the mix. Native to Mexico and a traditional plant at Christmas time, poinsettias have come a LONG way since Natureworks began in 1983. Now they are available in many shades of peach, pink and white bicolors, deep burgundy, and even ruffled forms called ‘Christmas Rose’.
Other favorite flowering plants during the holiday season are cyclamen, Amaryllis, orchids, pure white hydrangeas, and double white kalanchoe. Exceptionally fragrant plants are Calamondin oranges with pure white, intoxicating flowers followed by miniature orange fruit, jasmines of all sorts, and Osmanthus fragrans (sweet olive), a shrubby plant covered with clusters of tiny flowers that emit the sweetest scent imaginable.

It is a European tradition to bring Hellebores inside the house during the holiday season. 'Pink Frost' and the snow white 'Jacob' are two that offer a stunning indoor display and can later be planted outside when the ground becomes workable.
While individual plants make wonderful gifts and are ideal to dress up your home, a Natureworks signature creation at this time of year are our blooming indoor gardens. We combine flowering plants with lovely green foliage plants such as frosty ferns, variegated ivies, and fresh rosemary. We even add a small arrangement of greenery, cones, and berries to some of our indoor gardens for a truly festive look.
