PINKS & BLUES...Easter time blossoms in the greenhouse.
House plants are dear to us here at Natureworks. Nancy DuBrule-Clemente, the owner of Natureworks, was so enamored of houseplants that she did an independent study on them while in horticulture school at the University of Connecticut! In her first job in this industry at a Hamden nursery, she created an indoor landscaping department (called at the time “interior plantscaping”), traveled to Florida to visit nurseries and buy tropical plants, and maintained interiorscapes throughout the Southern CT area. When Natureworks began in 1983, indoor landscaping was a part of the services offered. In the late 80’s, the focus shifted entirely to outdoor landscaping.

Now, indoor plants enhance and decorate our retail shop and fill our greenhouse with fragrance, texture, and color, especially during the colder months of the year when outdoor gardening is limited. House plants make great gifts, allow our customers to keep growing and greening things up through the winter months, and some are especially effective at cleaning indoor air of toxins. Natureworks hires employees who are also very interested in growing indoor plants. Some of our enthusiastic staff members maintain quite large collections in their homes. The selection in our greenhouse and retail store is often quite unusual, and we are always happy to talk about the plants we carry. We offer a houseplant repotting service here at the garden center and can arrange to repot larger plants in your home if you live within our service area.
In addition to houseplants, we offer a great selection of decorative ceramic pots, terra cotta pots, wicker baskets, organic potting soil, orchid growing media, organic fertilizers, and eco-friendly pest control products!
