23 Oct Bulbs We Love- Snowdrops
Snowdrops are the very first bulbs to come up in the garden. Forget spring, these beauties bloom in late February or early March, literally right through the snow, thus the name. We carry THREE varieties of snowdrops at Natureworks. They vary in height and bloom time. Snowdrops naturalize beautifully over the years and are not eaten by deer or voles. I was lucky enough to inherit a very old stand of these bulbs in the front of our shop and I have since dug up clumps and spread them all around the grounds.
I collect tiny vases and pick my snowdrops the minute they appear and place the diminutive arrangements around the house to give me a late winter boost. Snowdrops are the birth flower of February and to me, a sign of hope that spring is on the way!
