Hydrangeas: Demystified and Dried
9:30 – 10:30 am
2014 was a tough year for many hydrangea plants. The severely cold winter caused some of them to lose their older blooming wood and flower buds. What’s a gardener to do? Nancy will talk about how to care for all the various types of hydrangea: Native oak leaf and hills of snow types, mopheads, lacecaps, tree hydrangeas, and everything in between. She will demonstrate pruning, training, feeding and winter protection. She will also discuss the best of the newest, modern varieties that are reliably hardy in a true zone 5 winter. Don’t miss this!
Hydrangea Wreath Making Demonstration
11:00 – 12:00 pm
When do you pick hydrangeas for drying? What is the best way to preserve them? Once Nancy has explained the basics, she will demonstrate creative ways to use these great dried flowers in wreaths and dried arrangements.
