Only 36 days until Spring!

Only 36 days until Spring!

Seedy Sunday was absolutely amazing- we had hundreds of customers buying thousands of seeds and we had a blast. It was like one big party. Thank you to everyone who came out on such a cold day to make it so wonderful. I have nicknamed it “Gardener’s Hump Day’ as it marks the middle of winter. We are now on the countdown to the day that the Natureworks retail shop opens for the season, March 19th, the first day of spring!

Until then, there are SO many things to do to keep your spring fever spirit alive. The day after Seedy Sunday we immediately ordered MORE seeds to bring to the CT Flower and Garden Show in Hartford which is NEXT WEEK, February 20th-23rd. It’s all hands on deck as we call in our gardening crews to load up our fleet of trucks and vans with seed racks, benches, shelves, books, plants, and boxes of new merchandise chosen specifically for the show. It is another rite of passage to spring to go to the flower show. This year I have heard from the woman who runs the show that there will be lots and lots of beautiful gardens. I always treat myself to a few new goodies as I stroll the other vendor booths. And then there are the workshops- so many to choose from this year! Don’t miss it and bring your friends for a day or evening out. Click on the link below for all of the details.
Following the flower show, our Natureworks Classes begin. Signups are pouring in. The concept of reducing your lawn for the sake of our pollinators, birds, butterflies, wildlife, the environment, and US seems to have caught on! Diane, Suzanne, and I are hard at work preparing our workshops. I am also thrilled to see so many folks interested in my new design class- The Basics of Designing a Native Plant Garden. And don’t forget to register for Pruning. Every gardener needs to take this workshop at least once!
